In recent years, African cinema has benefited from the OTT streaming and digital boom. It has found global takers, and Kava, a streaming platform built on LinqTV One ecosystem, is showcasing the best of Nigerian and African entertainment to audiences around the world. Launched in 2015 and powered by LinqTV One, Kava (or Kava.tv) represents a new chapter for African media.

It’s a chapter that combines cutting-edge streaming technology and regional cultural storytelling. Merging it into a seamless premium streaming experience, Kava’s success lies not just in the vision to entertain but also in the robust technology foundation that LinqTV One provided.

Kava was founded with a simple goal and that is to make African stories go global. Owned by Filmhouse Group and Inkblot Studios, Kava works on a Netflix-style subscription-based methodology. Founded in 2025, Kava focuses not just on the local African population but instead on a dual-market approach where it serves the African diaspora globally.  Millions of viewers living in regions such as the U.S., U.K., Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean now have access to authentic African content that resonates with their culture and roots.

Kava partnered with LinqTV, and the goal was to transform an ambitious vision into a world-class OTT reality. This, however, had to be done in order to adhere to Kava’s strict timelines and launch schedules. LinqTV provided a comprehensive enterprise-grade OTT platform powered by LinqTV One,  capable of handling everything from hosting to monetization under one unified system. At the core of Kava’s technology stack lies LinqTV One Enterprise, a complete end-to-end OTT ecosystem designed for scalability and cross-platform deployment. With LinqTV One, Kava gained the ability to launch not only its website but also a full suite of OTT applications. But that’s not all. LinqTV One delivered a robust solution that focused on the following.

Kava is live on its website version, and other applications, such as iOS, Android, and Fire TV apps are under development. LinqTV One uses a one-stop content management system that enables our customers to upload, manage, and analyze content all from a single dashboard. This is valid for all applications as well.

For any global OTT platform, seamless payment management is vital. Kava’s audience spans multiple continents, so the platform needed a solution that could handle multi-currency billing while still supporting regional payment options.

LinqTV’s multi-currency architecture, supporting over 45+ global currencies, was integrated with Stripe and Paystack to achieve this. The result was a flexible yet centralized payment ecosystem.

A platform must always reflect the identity of its content. Kava worked closely with LinqTV’s design team to fully customize their platform using LinqTV Visual Designer (VD). LinqTV helped Kava create a Netflix-style premium interface, which is modern, immersive, and reflective of African aesthetics.
